The theater loomed before Eva like a shadow from another time, its soot-streaked facade crowned with delicate carvings of cherubs and vines that seemed to wilt under the weight of years. The once-gleaming marquee hung at a crooked angle, its rust dull and pockmarked—a ghostly whisper of the theater’s former grandeur. Above, the overcast sky layered the building in muted grays, a shroud that made the structure seem both forgotten and defiant. Yet, even in its decay, the theater seemed to hold its breath, waiting.
