The library was quieter than Bronx had expected. Just inside the double doors, he paused. His green eyes skimmed the grand expanse of the room, taking in the towering shelves stuffed with books, the golden light spilling through high arched windows, and the faint scent of paper and coffee that lingered beneath the hush. It wasn’t his usual kind of environment. Too calm. Too still. But something had pulled him here, even if he wasn’t entirely sure what.
