Amelia Carter stood at the entrance of Galerie Lumière Éclatée, her posture composed but her hazel eyes betraying a simmering irritation. The gallery was a study in contrasts: polished concrete floors reflecting dynamic spotlights, avant-garde sculptures casting jagged shadows, and bold, unframed canvases lined along the walls. The faint scent of varnish blended with the low hum of conversations from the staff. Amelia adjusted the silk scarf at her neck, feeling it tighten like a noose against her skin.
