Its corrugated steel walls were streaked with rust, and the faint hum of nearby machinery underscored the oppressive quiet inside. The space was raw and utilitarian, illuminated by the harsh glare of flickering fluorescents that cast jagged shadows across the concrete floor. The air carried the sharp scent of oil, metal, and sweat, a visceral contrast to the sterile polish of Wolfe Tower.
