The office of Hunter Calloway, Private Investigator, was a far cry from the glossy, high-tech setups seen in crime dramas. Tucked away in a nondescript building on the city’s outskirts, it was a relic of another era. The peeling paint on the door bore his name in faded gold letters, and the faint smell of stale coffee lingered in the air. Inside, the space was dimly lit, the blinds half-drawn against the afternoon sun. The muffled hum of distant city traffic filtered through the cracks, a reminder of the sprawling chaos just outside. A cluttered desk sat at the room’s center, piled high with case files, an ashtray filled with paperclips, and a precarious stack of empty coffee cups. The chair creaked softly as Hunter leaned back, absently running a thumb across the cracked face of his silver pocket watch.
