The archives of Laurent Tower were nothing like James had imagined. Hidden several floors below the sleek, glassy sophistication of the upper offices, the cavernous room exuded an almost sacred atmosphere. Rows of sleek, metal shelving stretched into the shadows, their contents meticulously organized and coded. The faint scent of aging paper mingled with an elusive metallic tang, as though the room itself breathed the weight of history.
